About the Role

As an Undergraduate Accountant in our Business Services team, you’ll build your technical accounting skills, whilst you complete your studies. 

Our Business Services team work closely with clients of all types and sizes, in every sector. By understanding each client’s unique business, family, and wealth needs, our team provide a range of personalised accounting, tax and compliance, and advisory services – business valuations, due diligence, family business and succession planning just to name a few! From helping a client grow their business, minimise their tax liability or plan for the future, our Business Services team are there to help clients achieve their goals! 

What you’ll do: 

As an Undergraduate Accountant at BDO, you can expect to. 

  • Engage in meaningful client work while collaborating with your team to gain experience across a variety of client engagements
  • Undertake a wide range of financial accounting and compliance tasks such as preparing activity statements, tax returns and financial statements, financial and management reporting, outsourced services and more!
  • Expand your expertise in income tax, GST, FBT, IAS, stamp duty, and payroll.

 What you’ll get:

 Eligibility 

You will be studying towards Economics, Accounting, Commerce, Finance or relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
