Your role
HLB Mann Judd is looking for HLB’s next generation for the Sydney office within the Personal Wealth Management Team. Their Wealth Management business is fast growing and one of the largest non-bank aligned practices in Australia, with over $900M in FUM, specialising in High Net Wealth (HNW) clients. You will be a valuable team member working in a dynamic, professional and supportive team.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting advisers in the preparation of financial advice including superannuation, tax structuring and family office planning
- Client Review meeting preparation and follow up
- Assisting with investment portfolio reviews and changes
- Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) accounts preparation
- Listed securities research analysis for advisers as needed
- Quarterly report preparation and performance analysis

About you
To be eligible you must meet the following criteria:
- Have a genuine passion for wealth management
- Have recently completed an undergraduate Business, Commerce or Economics degree, preferably with a major in Wealth Management
- Have a credit or above GPA
- Be an Australian citizen or have Permanent Residency status

Compliance work, assisting clients with issues, developing junior staff, managing workflow and junior staff.
I work with a team of 6 staff who assist with the responsibilities for our allocated client list. Typical tasks include tax compliance work, such as preparation of financial statements, income tax returns, activity statement; but then also include ad hoc tax advice provided to our clients when required.
Plan and run audits of mid-sized companies and/or charities. Supervision and review of work done by junior staff.

Pros

The people. Getting to work with partners and directors even at a graduate level. You feel you are doing meaningful work that is helping you develop your skills and progress your career.
The workplace culture is great. All the staff are extremely nice, helpful and expect a reasonable quality of work from you but are also always willing to sit down and work through something with you.
The people! We have got the most wholesome, friendliest and the nicest people you can find and that just helps so much especially when you are starting your first professional job. The tone at the top really does make a difference because this quality is from partners right through to the cadets.
The wide variety of clients that we have access to work with directly. I have also formed a bond with a number fellow employees at the firm and the strong staff culture has really assisted this.
Cons
Well for me it is the commute to the office. It takes me 1 hour each way.
Having to complete timesheets.
As a graduate when it is very busy or there isn't much work to do often you may have to watch company training videos.
We deal with some larger clients with strict deadlines which can put some pressure on delivering tasks.
